Jimmy Justice “Fishbob” Geraghty
Many environmental and social justice advocates in Marin – as well as hundreds more seeking redress and respect – have stories about their own personal relationship with Jimmy. That’s the power of his spirit as our community mourns his passing on March 27.
Jim was everywhere that people were being sidelined, their voices squelched, their rights infringed. Jimmy, his electric bike, and his video camera kept public meetings public and controversial decisions top of mind. His imposing presence and quiet strength gave courage to many who struggle in our community. Especially focused on human rights, the immigrant community, and on issues of sustainability throughout Marin, Jimmy was a local hero. It is upon all of us who value what is right and true to remember and advance his agenda of justice. Info about the Jim Geraghty in-person memorial at China Camp on May 16 is here.
