Project Homekey 2.0 – Help Marin Find More Sites for Safe, Affordable, Supportive Housing

Last July, the State of California launched its $750 million “Project Homekey” to help local communities rapidly acquire hotels, motels, commercial buildings and other existing structures to rapidly house people experiencing homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Marin County received approximately $8.6 million which was used to help purchase two San Rafael and Corte Madera properties that will be quickly converted into 63 new units of permanent supportive housing (more info about the local effort).

Given the success of “Homekey 1.0”, Governor Newsom’s proposed FY 21-22 budget includes another $750 million allocation for “Project Homekey 2.0”. If approved, we will need to move quickly to select sites and close on properties by the end of the calendar year.  Opening Doors Marin and the County of Marin, in partnership, are soliciting suggestions of sites.  Email your ideas to: info@openingdoorsmarin.org.  Find out more>>
