MEHC urges Board of Supervisors to adopt zoning changes

A letter of support for these zoning changes were included in the Week of June 3rd Coming Up MEHC newsletter. You can read it here:

Dear Board of Supervisors,

I am writing to you today to urge you to adopt the ordinance proposing amendments to the Marin County Code Title 22 and the Form-Based Code.

The County Housing Element requires that these zoning changes be adopted. If they are not adopted, Marin County will not be complying with its housing element and will risk decertification. Additionally, the higher density enabled by the proposed ordinance is better for the environment than the current lower density requirements. It is also better for the fiscal health of the County.

I urge you to approve this ordinance in order to continue the implementation of the Housing Element and to improve the environmental sustainability of our Zoning Code. We are in a housing crisis, and the adoption of this ordinance is a needed step towards addressing the issue.
