Point Reyes Station Project | MEHC Says YES

This Point Reyes Station project will remodel the existing Point Reyes gas station into a mixed use project, affordable housing project. Currently, the project site includes a small convenience store and two non-permitted housing units. The convenience store will be expanded, and there will be five permitted housing units created. Two units will be two-bedrooms and 2 units will be one-bedrooms. Two of these units will be affordable for lower-income households. The project will be redeveloped within the existing building envelope. The project is located in the center of Point Reyes Station.

MEHC supports this project as it meets its project endorsement guidelines. Two of the five projects will be affordable, in an area with a high need for affordable housing. The project reuses already developed land, meaning no incremental land is consumed in producing this housing. The project is located in the center of the community, reducing the need to drive for many daily tasks. The expanded convenience store on the site will serve residents as well.

This project has been approved by the Marin Board of Supervisors. The approval was appealed to the California Coast Commission. The appeal was denied in a 5-0 vote.
