The Village at Oak Hill
This exciting new proposal would provide 115 units of workforce housing for teachers and school support staff and 115 units of affordable housing for low-income households. The state is making five acres of land it owns between the prison and the Larkspur ferry terminal available to the developers at no cost. The developers selected to create this housing are Mill-Valley based Education Partners, Inc., and Eden Housing, which has several affordable housing projects in Marin.
On October 28th, Senator Mike McGuire and Assemblymember Marc Levine sponsored a virtual Town Hall meeting on this project. They were joined by California Department of General Services Deputy Director Jason Kinney, Bruce Dorfman from Education Housing Partners, Andrea Osgood from Eden Housing, and Marin County Superintendent of Schools Mary Jane Burke. MEHC supporters sent in statements of support and attended the meeting.
The developers expect to finish design work in 2022, begin construction in 2023 and complete the project by mid-2025. Despite the fact that local jurisdictions theoretically have little say over whether or not this project takes place, there is still a lot of pushback on this project.
