Update
In late 2019, the Multicultural Center of Marin, led by MEHC Board Member Douglas Mundo, formed the Canal Community Resilience Council to prepare a group of community members to serve as leaders working on issues of climate resiliency in the neighborhood. The CCRC’s mission is to build community resilience and leadership in the face of the threats of climate change, sea level rise, and gentrification in the Canal neighborhood. MEHC is providing technical support in this effort.
After a long pause in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the group resumed meeting in August 2020 on Zoom. Since that time, the CCRC has delved further into tap water quality; waste, recycling and composting; stormwater flooding; the Tiscornia Marsh renovation project; transportation issues; and community resources and aid. The upcoming January 2021 meeting will focus on Emergency Preparedness. Find out more>>
